Monki business
I love Edinburgh, but living in Scandinavia was top. I spent most of my time in Norway, where Henrik Vibskov’s Oslo branch opened up during my stay (and I don’t half love a tempting Vibskov print and charmingly decked out store interior), I frequented Sweden (mostly Stockholm and quaint little Uppsala) monthly, boarding my lovely little blue tin-can trains at 0740 on a Thursday and returning 2200 on Sunday, exhausted and happy. I even gave Denmark a go, albeit the more rural side of things (I had a bottle-green Raleigh bicycle at my beck and call, swoon!), plus a fleeting visit to charming Copenhagen.
Everybody knows Scandinavians + design = match made in heaven. Nevermind top design studios (or humble and lovely IKEA), even the ordinary high street have little treasures to offer, though all too frequently only within the Norway/Sweden/Denmark/Finland area. But luckily it looks as if Monki are branching out, if we are to believe what their customer headquarters told me yesterday:

Fingers crossed for more of their sweet, incredibly layer-able, durable and on-trend creations for all us living outside Scandinavia’s borders by summer 2010:

JEANS WITH FRINGINGGGGGGG, MMMM. They also have some fierce footwear, but that I think you should discover yourself.
In conclusion, I miss Scandinavia, and I can’t promise not to move back rather soon, but until then I can rest easy in the knowledge that at least Monki have made plans to nourish my wardrobe, Scandi-style.
Gi meg alt!!!

You big lucky with Henrik Vibskov and Monki!
re my post: I know right! I had to choose the pictures very carefully to make sure there was no naked ladies in them… Very sexual, but I decided to focus on the pretty colours

Wow, I had no idea you lived in Scandinavia for a while! Why was that? I would love to visit Sweden one day. It shall happen! Maybe even in my year in industry…
Anyway, back to the topic! I love swedish design. There’s just something about it! That pink dress is calling to me, and I rather like the white t-shirt with the tree silhouettes on it. It’s exciting to hear they may be branching out to Britain!
