Sad news for Oslo-based fashion fans!

More than half the designers who showed at Oslo Fashion Week 18 months ago have dropped out, “prioritising” elsewhere. Money is, of course, a key factor, I have no doubt about that, but it seems a shame that with Stockholm in full fashion flow this week and Denmark’s efforts beginning on the 10th of this month, that the final piece of the Scandinavian fashion jigsaw appears to finally be showing some cracks of the recent financial downturn! Needs must, and all that, budget deficits are a nightmare and designers are looking to show wherever the biggest audiences are. Nevertheless, poor Oslo! Let this not be a sign of bad style news to come for the little capital. I, for one, shall be looking forward to the bits and pieces on show from the 17th February. (Though, Copenhagen Fashion Week have, of course, the quite eternally lovely Henrik Vibskov and Ivana Helsinki – as much as I’d love to think Oslo could put up a sufficient fight against such mighty fashion titans, I am currently doubtful!)
